Quickly and accurately locate specific properties by following these tips for using the search bar effectively in Privy.

Tips for Finding an Address

  1. Type, Don’t Paste

    • Avoid cutting and pasting the address directly into the search bar. Instead, type the address manually.

    • Look for a match in the dropdown suggestions and select it from the list.

  2. Follow Proper Formatting

    • Spell Out Directions: Use “South” instead of “S.”

    • Spell Out Street Types: Use “Way” instead of “W.”

    • Check the Direction Format: Some addresses may appear as “1234 South Main Street” while others might be formatted as “1234 Main Street South.”

  3. Use Alternate Formats

    • If the address doesn’t appear, try experimenting with different variations. Some addresses might not be immediately recognized due to formatting differences.

  4. Use the MLS Number

    • If you’re unable to locate the property by address, try searching with the MLS number for more accurate results.

Why Formatting Matters

Privy uses the "Google Master Housing Database" to power searches. For a match to appear, the address must align with Google’s master list and geo-location (coordinates). If the code from Google is incorrect or inconsistent, it can make some addresses harder to locate.

By adjusting the formatting and following these tips, you’ll improve your chances of finding the right property quickly and efficiently.
